Fernlight Companion Pro
More capability. Same calm.
Fernlight Companion Pro is the premium edition of Companion, with the included free features plus premium patterns, design tools, and owner-directed draft workflows. It replaces the free Companion plugin; it is not a second add-on.
AI-assisted workflow details in Pro
Pro is the paid action layer. It turns the theme and Companion intelligence into gated, reviewable, draft-first workflows that start from owner intent and stop before publishing.
- Creator AI workflows: draft queue, owner intent canvas, compose-page drafts, slot-copy workbenches, CTA and internal-link drafts, validation fix drafts, style briefs, writing guardrails, page refactor drafts, site blueprints, reading paths, and content refresh drafts.
- Agency AI workflows: bulk-compose from CSV or brief, expanded design context for AI tools, Client Handoff Guide, white-label/handoff controls, and stack manifest declarations that tell agents which Pro surfaces are active.
- Review and rollback: Pro stores provenance, source ability, goal, patterns used, before/after hashes, changed fields, and review state so every AI-assisted change remains inspectable.
- Hard boundary: Pro creates drafts, workbenches, briefs, and review notes. It does not call external AI services, overwrite live pages, or publish without a human.
Creator
For writers and solo publishers who want a richer toolkit without leaving the calm Fernlight workflow.
- Premium patterns built from core WordPress blocks; the eight Companion editorial blocks are included in Free.
- Extra style presets that reskin the whole site
- Premium starter definitions for writer, course, newsletter, portfolio, and small-business sites. These currently create Home and Start Here pages from shared premium patterns.
- Local-font upload and font-family settings with owner upload-consent controls.
- Additional View Transition CSS hooks; browser support and reduced-motion preferences apply. The free theme already includes native cross-document transition styling.
- Draft-first AI workflows — owner intent, compose-page, copy slots, CTA/link review, and validation workbenches
Agency
Everything in Creator, plus the deeper building and client-delivery tools studios need.
- Conditional display rules for login status, role, post type, and query parameters.
- Header/footer layout and behavior controls with a preview; use the Site Editor for block-level editing.
- Brand color and logo controls and CPT-aware patterns
- Design token export
- Bulk-compose — create multiple reviewable page drafts from a CSV or brief
- White-labeling and client handoff mode
- Marketplace contribution and revenue sharing are future plans, not a currently operating marketplace.

Companion Pro 1.3.13 is available through Freemius. Existing customers: open your account and downloads. Install the premium ZIP through Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, choose Replace current with uploaded when Companion is already installed, then activate your license under Appearance → Fernlight Companion → License & Pro. Keep one active Companion plugin. Get the free theme on WordPress.org.
AI connection setup and draft review are under: Tools → Fernlight AI Connections. AI models and outside assistant subscriptions are not included; these tools prepare local, reviewable work from your inputs.
Connect, inspect, draft, review
Open Tools → Fernlight AI Connections → Connect AI Client. An administrator saves owner purpose, audience, voice, protected material, reference pages, and environment confirmation under Site Context → Site Brief. Review Editing Guidelines, then use a compatible authenticated AI client to inspect the selected page, discuss changes, and request a separate Pro draft. Follow its review link or open Draft Review; compare the draft with the current source and publish manually.
REST works without MCP Adapter when the client supports authenticated REST. MCP is optional, requires a separately installed adapter, and exposes only the selected Fernlight tool groups. Plan eligibility, WordPress permissions, and MCP exposure are separate checks. A successful server check does not verify an external AI client connection; actual configured Codex/Claude acceptance remains pending. See the AI Tools Guide.
